Encore… Creating the Demand for More
Encore was started in a two-car garage by two people unusually excited about making great tile. For Debbie and Barry Russell, tile was more than a surface, or a money-making venture…it was an ever-evolving art form. Shortly after they began, they were joined by Rita Bourdon and Michael Campbell, who shared their passion. They had all worked together on previous tile ventures, and came to this project with new vision and purpose. Together they decided to really push the envelope…to do things never done before.
That’s where Vecchio came in. Initially a line of 19 pieces, all being produced on such “high-tech” equipment as cuisinarts and pizza cutters, it transcended its humble beginnings to set new trends in what could be accomplished with ceramics. Its novel pairing of old-world artisanship and cutting-edge green innovation got people talking, and catapulted Encore into the spotlight. They were going to need a bigger factory!
While Encore has grown its collections to encompass a range of styles over the years, we haven’t forgotten our initial inspiration, or our drive to push the envelope. We strive to outdo ourselves as a frontrunner in ceramic design, pairing superior craftsmanship with eco-responsible manufacturing. Join us in our tile revolution.
